Ogham
The ogham [OH-am or OH-yam] alphabet is also referred to as "beth luis nion" – similar to the word "alphabet". The letters consist of one to five angular or perpendicular lines that meet or cross a center line. Most ogham inscriptions come from Ireland and Scotland and are linked to Celtic tree tradition.
Runes
Runes are an alphabet composed of runic symbols commonly used in northern Europe. Each variation of runic alphabets has their own meanings and magical uses. The Elder Futhark is the most frequently seen version of the alphabet today. Users of Runes tend to disagree on the meaning if a rune falls inverted. However, some runes look the same whichever way they fall. Some runes may seem "merkstave" (meaning "dark stick" implying "dark". Usually, this means that the rune has the same primary meaning but leaning more towards a negative level.
